A man who tested positive for the coronavirus in Kebbi State had absconded from an isolation centre and subsequently died in his house, the state COVID-19 Task Force chairman, Jaafaru Mohammed has said. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of AVM Muhammadu Alhaji Muhammed (Rtd.) as the new Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA). This appointment took effect from Thursday, 30th April, 2020, for an initial period of 4 years in accordance with Section 3 of the National Emergency Management Agency Act. The Emir of Rano in Kano State, Alhaji Tafida Abubakar Ila, is dead. The emir died Saturday in a hospital in Kano at the age of 74. He died at a hospital in Kano on Saturday, almost one year after the Kano State Government created four new Emirate Councils and made him a first-class emir in Rano. The Lagos State Ministry of Health, on Saturday announced another four COVID-19 related deaths, as the number of confirmed cases in the state jumped to 1,022. The ministry, however, did not give additional information about age, sex, nationality and medical history of the deceased. “Unfortunately, four #COVID-19 deaths were recorded.
